The Walking Dead season 4 premiere countdown

$

I expect me counting the days until the premiere of the 4th season of The Walking Dead won’t come as a surprise. I already feel like October 13 can’t get here soon enough - 16 episodes of terror and creepiness are in store for us this season and I’m ready for them all.

You have to admit a show is good if despite all the creative shake-ups and behind-the-scenes reorganization it's still going strong - season 4 will be run by Scott Gimple, the third show runner in "The Walking Dead" history, after the original show runner Frank Darabont and his successor, Glen Mazzara, have both quit because of creative differences.

The Walking Dead has survived all the changes while making rating history. Last season's  premiere had a massive 12 million views. The premiere of season 4 is expected to have an even bigger viewership.

And yes, sometimes you want to scream at the TV because you can’t believe the nonsense happening but ultimately, at the end of each episode, all you want to do is see another one and that's what makes it a great TV show.

This season I’m really excited that Michelle MacLaren will return to direct the last episode, she directed some of the episodes from season one and two and those, especially in season one, were the best in my opinion. One of the reasons I liked season one so much was the fact that the apocalyptic scenario was much more real and terrifying because the group was outside and on the run.

The last season left me wanting more zombie attacks! I feel like they rested too much on the human drama and kind of forgot about the zombies outside. And even though it was entertaining, I can get that kind of thrills from every other thriller/drama/horror movie out there. Thankfully the rumor around town is this season they are going back to basics and this time they will lean heavily towards zombie threats. Doesn’t that sound  just wonderful?

Also comic book co-creator Robert Kirkman is set to write at least two episodes of the season. I bet those will be epic, I mean who else better to do that then one of the original writers?
This season will bring more character into play which is always good considering people tend to die in a zombie apocalypse and Rick’s group is getting smaller every passing day.

So you know it now - October 13 I will be braless in my pajamas, in my bed with an unhealthy amount of junk food nearby and proceeding to annoy my sister with my girlish screams of terror.

If you don't get why this is hilarious, start watching and you'll be in on the joke in no time! :))))

Cropped gone retro

I’m going to miss being able to wear cropped tops on bare skin now that the colder side of fall has descended over Romania. But before that I wanted to wear this top at least once – I ordered it with the cobalt dress I showed you last time and the stripped skirt I have on here. Once again the quality really won me over – the fabrics and finishing touches are great.

I was actually looking for the perfect black and white pencil skirt with stripes for ages and I think this one was a great find and exactly what I had in mind from the start. The short top might look simple but I love the cut out detail with the elastic strip – it adds a bit of sexiness to the whole thing. I obviously don’t need any help there but what can one do if it’s handed to you?!:))))))

Since the weather was not that friendly but still acceptable I went a bit retro with a yellow trench and mustard pumps. And how about my crocodile statement earrings? I had my eyes on them for a while and they don’t disappoint.

I’m wearing:
 yellow trench  - vintage
stripped skirt / fusta - front row (here)
cropped top /  top scurt - front row (here)
bag/ geanta  - Debenhams
mustard pumps / pantofi - Tommy Hilfiger
crocodile earrings / cercei crocodil - Asos
gold crosses belt / curea cruci - Asos

Halloween mood

If you’re one of those people that don’t like Halloween then you’ll hate this article and should probably skip it. I, on the other hand, I’m a big fan of Halloween and pretty much think about it at least a month in advance.

This year I’ve been a bit late with my thematic Halloween articles but you have plenty of material to read with the ones I already dedicated to Halloween treats and food, Halloween costumes and makeup and Halloween pumpkin carving and decorating.

Right now we’re going to get into the Halloween mood, but I got more specific stuff planned for you later this week (Halloween decor, maybe some more Halloween costumes ideas, Halloween makeup and some amazing recipes for Halloween drinks and Halloween food). The selection of photos I chose for you is super inspiring and gave me lots o DIY Halloween ideas - hopefully they will have the same effect on you.

I’m also thinking about a pre-Halloween outfit, last year I channeled Wednesday Addams for a day at work and since it was a big success, now everybody is waiting for a follow up! It's my own fault for being so fabulous!:))))

Judy Garland, a black cat, stripped tights and pointy red shoes - possibly the best combination ever!

I think that every time you start planning a Halloween party you should have in mind the flying pumpkins scene at Hogwarts and think "What can I do to make my party look like the one in Harry Potter?":)))) This is basically the goal!

If you're planning to be a witch really commit to it, there's no half way to do it!

A Halloween wedding could be a bit excessive, not to mention supremely creepy but I dig the cake, drinks and decor!

This is the perfect time to start watching "Sleepy Hollow" - a brand new TV show that's really amazing. I for one never imagined Ichabod Crane as being the hottest man on earth but Tom Mison made me a believer! I'm hooked!

Lavender and purple mix really well into the traditional orange-yellow-black Halloween color scheme, wouldn't you agree?

A Cheshire cat has to be somehow involved into the Halloween preparations!

When it comes to Halloween kid's costumes this adorable little witch takes the (ghosts decorated) cake!

The haunted house of my nightmares! Trick or Treat? Yes, please!

The night is long and full of horrors bats!

Amazing vampire makeup for Halloween (especially for redheads)!

If you have to wear something provocative on Halloween be a pin up witch - there's nothing sexier on a broom!

The Halloween fever has caught up with me this weekend and I found myself walking around my neighborhood in a witchy outfit. And by the looks that I got I’m pretty sure I gave the creeps to quite a few people! But surprisingly enough I was a big hit with the kids whom I didn’t fool with my pretend evil ways. Yes, guys, little people think I’m cool and since kids don’t lie it must be true!:))))))

This pre-Halloween get up was constructed around the black tutu skirt that Veronica Sticlaru custom made for me and gave me as a gift for my birthday earlier this month. The reason I added this varsity jacket to an otherwise eccentric ensemble was to make it more wearable - change the shoes and you can pretty much wear it  around town - I would (already did)!:))))

This one with white cat ears is also handmade by yours truly -  you can see more of my work on Etsy as well! I told you kids love me as proven by this little redhead cutie who couldn't let go of me in the park ! We're pretty adorable, right?:)))

First of all my hair is out of control! He has a life of its own and acts up something crazy. Secondly I have this dress in white as well as you might remember from here where I wore it with leather pants. When I like something I tend to buy it in multiple colors so there you have it! :)

Other than the dress this outfit it’s all about the accessories. I know people tend to avoid mixing silver and gold jewelry but I don’t really care for that rule so as soon as I got my bracelets from BellastI couldn’t wait and had to wear them together.

I guess we should also talk about the cat over the knee tights I have on – I thought they were too cute to pass and ordered them without thinking twice! Never looked back!:)))

How pretty are these two delicate silver bracelets? I don't even know which one I like best: the crown bracelet or the dragonfly bracelet!

Trend alert – running shoes

$

Started a few seasons ago, the mixing of sport elements into everyday outfits trend has evolved into full blown madness (the good kind that is).

The first step was marked by adapted/enhanced sport items insidiously finding their way into our wardrobes and everyday outfits. That’s how clothes traditionally worn to the gym  or reserved for outdoors activities like caps, hoodies, sweatshirts, sport pants started to be combined with girly dresses, voluminous skirts, tailored pants, statement jewelry and high heels. Granted most of these were somehow modified to appeal to a more fashion oriented crowd but sport chic was suddenly not just accepted but cool and original.

The platform sneaker is the perfect example to illustrate my case. Heavily sport inspired but with the heel/height element added in the mix it was a huge hit. And while many girls are still wearing the Isabel Marant model or the many variation inspired by it, even more of them have moved on to the running shoe which is the next step in the evolution of this trend. Now it’s the perfect time to wear your Nike shoes instead of high heels around town – they are not reserved for jogging or gym anymore. You can look at it as a purification of a trend that’s getting more and more literal every passing season. It might even have something to do with the general direction towards casualness the entire society stirs towards.

I actually collected quite a few inspirational outfits featuring cool running shoes as the main attraction and most of them were photographed outside this year’s Fashion Week crown around the globe: New York, London, Milan and Paris.

If you're anything like me and you have a deadline then you will pretty much do anything else except what you are supposed to do. Why avoid the sweet panic and miraculous inspiration that comes in the last two or three hours before something has to be delivered?! Besides someone has to look for cool things to order online and I might as well play my part!

I didn't really need any more shoes when I started the distraction process but I ended up feeling like my life would be so much better with these electric blue pumps in my feet. I love the animal print on the inside and the scalloped edges - these kind of details make a fool out of me!:))))

This is what I felt inside when I saw them and the complex reasoning that came to mind on why should I get  them - you now have an inside into my mind (and what a truly wonderful and horrific place that is):

Hopefully I got my feelings through to you guys!:))))

Ooops, I did it again! I knew what my first outfit around this cool tshirt from Ruvix would be the moment I got it: a pleated miniskirt suspend tights and spiked heels – everything in black. Since I didn’t want to attract every pervert in town I added my vintage green coat on top of everything. What I can tell you it’s that this get up was a crowd pleaser...big time!:))))

I also suspected you’re going to love the tshirt so you’ll have the chance to win one as Ruvix is giving it away for one of my readers. They carry hilarious thirts with ironic brand names prints. You can pretty much choose anything you like in the comments section.

DIY – colorful statement necklace

$

I’m a huge DIY fan and I love making things for myself for a fraction of what they would cost if I were to buy them. I know many of you see things in magazines, online or on the runway and you get depressed because you think you could never afford them but, believe me, there are always creative ways to get a similar result for pennies or even using stuff you already have. They usually just need a little upgrade.

I took the photos for this tutorial a while ago but I just got around editing them and writing the text. By popular demand, today I’m showing you a step by step photo tutorial for a colorful rhinestone necklace. It’s really easy to make and the result it's very cool.

You will need: some old costume jewelry (rhinestone necklaces to be more precise), nail polish or sharpies (permanent markers), silver wire (optional) and cotton swabs.

So I had these two rhinestone necklaces that were just laying around never worn before mainly because I found them too bridal for my outfits. They were also too small by themselves.

Acestea sunt cele doua coliere de care va povesteam (inainte de transformare) - destul de ok, dar genul pe care nu le purtam niciodata si ramaneau parasite in cutie de fiecare data.

I have way too many bottles of nail polish so it was high time to use them for more than just my nails.  Obviously the ones pictured are just a small percent of my collection (I didn't want to scare you:)))).

The first thing I did was to mash the two necklaces together and make a bigger one out of them. You might need some silver wire to connect them and effortlessly make them look like a brand new necklace!

The next step is to decide the color scheme. I initially tried using permanent markers to color the rhinestones but they weren't pigmented enough to get the shades I wanted so I went for nail polish instead and it worked great.

Choosing the perfect color mix it's actually the hardest part - I tried different combinations on a white piece of paper before settling on a blend of green, mint, blue and yellow.

The next step is to patiently start coloring the rhinestones - make sure and not load the brush with too much varnish! If you happen to apply too much nail polish on one of the rhinestones use a cotton swab to clear away the excess. Another tip is to start from the top of the necklace and move down towards the bottom. I would also recommend color variation: use just a few colors but make sure there's enough contrast to make things interesting!

Are cineva de gand sa puna in aplicare acest tutorial? Imi puteti scrie daca doriti sa fac un tutorial pe o anumita tema si promit sa va fac pe plac daca pot!

What do you think? Planning to do this project yourself? If so I'd love to see photos with the end result! Let me know if you have any special requests for tutorial/DIY projects!

The dark aristocrat

I always had this nagging suspicion I could levitate and as proven by this photos I was right!:)))) They were not photoshoped so the only logical explanation it’s that I can fly! I’m really excited I was wearing this outfit while levitating for the first time – you really don’t want your superhero costume to be something boring.

What possessed me to dress this way, you ask? Well, I got some awesome jewelry recently, a bunch of cool silver rings and bracelets and I felt the ardent need to wear them all at once. A maxi dress came to mind immediately as something that would work wonderfully and the rest is history. I was aiming for a witchy vibe, but a high-end version of that – maybe a princess turned to dark magic for some reason – if you get my drift!

I was actually followed by this furious, short woman that was asking obsessively: ”Do you think you’re a princess?” (Te crezi printesa? in Romanian) like it was a bad thing if I did. I can’t imagine why somebody would ever do that but I stopped and answered politely: ”Sometimes”. The whole thing was so ridiculous it was funny. This is what I get for riding the subway in such a get up!:))))

Getting back to my favorite subject – jewelry – I’m super obsessed with this lot from Red Cap– and I’ve been wearing them a lot these past two weeks. There’s something magic about good Goth theme rings and lots of them. I actually had a version of this outfit on for the Avanpremire 13 event - I just needed to show off the dress and bling to a more fashion friendly crowd!:)))
 I’m wearing:
maxi dress / rochie - Topshop
red jacket / jacheta rosie - H&M (The garden collection)
floppy hat / palarie - New Look
boots, fringe bag / cizme, geanta franjuri - random brand
rings / inele - Red Cap jewelry (1, 2, 3, 4)
   bracelets / bratari - Red Cap jewelry (1, 2)

Brian Viveros – jaded beauty

The moment I saw Brian Viveros’ work I was sold. I wouldn’t know how to put it into words and feel I made it justice but there’s something about his art that gets an emotional reaction out of me. There so much of everything in this world that you just can’t react to it all so when you do, or more truthfully when I do, it’s to something special that hits home in more ways than one.

For me his portraits talk about the dark side of everything beautiful, the desire for destruction and self-destruction that’s in all of us, how we’re so jaded and hopeful at the same time, so powerful and so very weak, how we get wounded everyday by all the small and big things we never thought would happen to us, how we all pretend and play the many roles we have to, how we see ourselves and how others do, it’s about all the beauty and ugliness that coexist in this world, it about all the love and all the hate, all the contrasts that we live with.

I love how Brian paints these incredibly beautiful wide-eyed women while also giving them a super heroine quality that makes you feel they are true fighters. They are stunning and vulnerable but you wouldn’t want to mess with them. I guess ultimately it’s about how things are never black and white and how beauty gets tainted and soiled and wounded in the struggle to be happy or get wherever we want to get, how perfection is overestimated and how we are all damaged and fucked up but sometimes better in spite of it all.

“A technical perfectionist, Brian Viveros’ oil, airbrush, acrylic, and ink paintings are highly saturated with pigment, luminosity, and depth, while the compositions are poignant and simple. The artist’s emphasis tends to be on focal points such as the eyes, lips, and skin, conveying the subtlety of minute expression and the power of an impaling gaze. The paintings feel cinematic, like haunting stills from a film, owing to their evocative suggestion of narrative and to the iconicity of their subjects. The artist’s creative cosmos is beautifully stylized, never derivative, and distinctly recognizable as his own.” – this is a quote I found on his website that I subscribe to so I had to share it.

Holiday outfit – white leather and fur

Why am I wearing a pair of white, leather, capri, sport inspired pants you ask? Well they would be normal length pants for people of average height!

Also, I just had to have them, OK?! I knew in my heart they were not going to be long enough for me, but I liked them so much I placed the order anyway. It’s just like when you buy something two size smaller and you say to yourself that you’re going to lose weight and wear that thing – I was delusional!:))))

I also got the white, asymmetric top to go with them. They are both from Front Row and I have to say, once again, that they don’t disappoint quality wise – both items look great and are well made and nice to touch. It did take a long while for the order to be processed and get to me, but once here I love it (even with the pants being so short on me)!

My sister challenged me to wear them and I think I made it work. I’m actually quite happy with the way this outfit turned out – I have a few more get ups in mind for the pants and they will look even better with pumps in the spring/summer. The top is obviously super versatile so it won’t be a problem. All in all - I have no regrets!:)))

  Yes, I was freezing!:)
 I’m wearing:
ankle boots, belt / botine, curea - Asos (here)
lace tights, bag /ciorapi, geanta - random brand

top / bluza - Front Row (here)
fur collar, trench / guler blana, trench - vintage

Christmas decorations - last minute DIY

How about some last minute Christmas decoration and ornaments?

As you know, I'm big on little Christmas details and making my home look as festive as possible. I'm always hunting for easy DIY Christmas (and any other holiday know to men) ideas to share with you and put into practice myself.

This year I didn't have as much time as usual to go crazy with the Christmas ornaments, so I'm trying to get back on track with little glittery accents here and there (ok, you got me, it's more like everywhere).

Gold, glitter stag among Christmas cookies that look like snow covered hills (clever) and a tiny, blue car with a tiny Christmas tree tied on top!!!

This is too adorable for words - makes you want to have a kid just to dress him like this and take pictures of the said child in a miniature Santa Clause bucket which you will show to anyone and embarrass him/her for the rest of his/her life! That's true love!

Stick to white and red and you can't go wrong for Christmas!

Christmas stockings hanging over the fireplace and felt hearts decorated staircase! Yes, please!

Pastel Christmas decorations and gift wrapping meant for royalty (just getting the box with all the pearl beads and crystals would be enough for me:)))).

The Christmas ball made out of acorn' caps it's a pretty great idea! I have to replicate this!

Just sprinkle glitter on everything in sight and be done with it!

I'd prefer some sweet treats but these Christmas ornaments on a the cupcake stand look good too!

Precious Christmas lights go wonderful with some Christmas music or a Christmas movies marathon watched with your loved ones on the couch!

I love these vintage Christmas ornaments and old school Christmas tree toppers - they make me think about my childhood when we had very similar ones!

Silver glitter covered stag and fruits - this idea is on top of my Christmas crafts list!

Finally - a wonderful Christmas table arrangement that I plan to recreate myself!

Merry Christmas to everybody! Let me know if I gave you any last minute ideas for swanky Christmas decor!:)

HBO’s Girls season 3 premiere countdown

I’m super excited that Girls’ season 3 premiere on January 12, it’s just a few days away and it’s going to be a double episode. I really need my weekly doze of Girls' humor again.

Just like one of my friends said, Girls is the worst TV show that I can’t stop watching! Well, that might be a bit harsh, I actually love it (a lot) but it does occasionally get on my nerves too.

Back in January 2013 HBO renewed the Girls TV series for a third season and the show continues to have that revolting intriguing quality about it.

It got a lot of positive reviews from critics who liked the humor, the unfiltered nature of the situations and its audacity. Girls is written and directed by Lena Dunham. She also stars in the series as one of the main characters.

After her 2010 movie, Tiny Furniture, where she played Aura, a version of herself, stuck in a post-college funk (her real mother, the visual artist Laurie Simmons, played her mother in the movie and her real sister, Grace, played her sister in the movie), received a lot of positive reviews, she got the opportunity to do an HBO pilot. And that’s how HBO’s Girls was born.

One of Hannah's many funny quotes!

The first season created quite a stir - people loved it or loved to hate it, some even called it a cult show. At the same time it wascriticizedfor not having any black characters. People were upset that in a neighborhood as Brooklyn, the most statistically diverse place in the U.S, the show included an all-white cast. Lena Dunham responded by promising that in the future she would “do better,” and that was not intentional because she was simply writing “people she knows.”

Another problem was the debate about its nepotism as the main actors have a privileged life even outside the TV show, many of them have famous parents in real life: aside Dunham’s pedigree as the daughter of feminist artist Laurie Simmons, Jemima Kirke is the daughter of Bad Company drummer, Simon Kirke, Allison Williamsis the daughter of NBC Nightly News anchor, Brian Williams and Zosia Mamet is the daughter of playwright, essayist, screenwriter and film director David Mamet and actress Lindsay Crouse.

I guess we can call Girls the poor version of “Sex and the City”, with unsuccessful, unglamorous, depressed, borderline crazy and terrible at life in general girls. Dunham herself admitted that Girlswas inspired by “Sex and the City” but reflects a part of the population that was not included in it or other TV shows like Gossip Girl:“There was this whole in between space that hadn't really been addressed". The funny things is that part that is poorly represented in TV shows and movies it's actually most of us!

Say that again! I might even have more than 3 or 4 really great folk albums in me!

I have to call out Judd Apatow, one of Dunham’s collaborators after he said that Girls would provide men with an insight into "realistic females". So just to clear the air: Dude, are you crazy?

Believe me, “realistic females” are not like that. Just a few examples on the top of my head - when I’m sad I don’t go to my girlfriend’s house and just because she is taking a bath, I decide to join her and cry like crazy in her bath tube…with her…naked!!! Oh no, that only happens in movies!

Or the fact that Hannah goes to visit her parents with her stuff in a black bin bag. Trust me, no sane person would  ever do that as the constant bickering that you would get from your mother for shamming her in front of everybody (aka people in the airport, that she doesn’t even know), would put the fear of God into you and always prevent you to do so.

Never have I went on a drug binge just because I had a writer’s block, lack of inspiration and thought to myself: nothing like a bit of cocaine to sparkle my imagination! So please, spare me the supposedly groundbreaking portrayal of young women speech that the Girls TV show is supposed to do. The show is great but we have to admit it's based on a mix of crazy stuff and the occasional reality dose with a lot of funny in between and the "realistic females" are anything but down to earth..

Maybe it’s the fact that I’m older now and wiser, if I may say so myself, but I can’t relate to some of the things this girls are going through and I can’t even remember a time when I could. Not even in my early twenties was I so screwed up. And as a side note – I’m far from having things all figured up myself.

Maybe his appeal comes just from that, watching and realizing that you are not that broke. I repeat, the show is great, but that’s not because of its realism, not at all!

That's how you treat a girl! Take  a cue from Adam!:))))

Adam and Hannah (Adam Driver and Lena Dunham) are weirdly great together, I really love this odd couple! It's comforting to see any weirdo has a match out there!

This is what I always say to anybody that has any complaint about me (especially my parents): I could be a drug addict. Do you realize how lucky you are?

Basically the show is all about a group of friends: self-involved aspiring writer Hannah, (Lena Dunham), beauty queen, uptight and dependable Marnie (Allison Williams), bohemian and chaotic Jessa (Jemima Kirke), girlish and naive Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) and their messy life.

One can say these women never really dealt with real problems before and they are just whining about the fact that they have to be responsible for themselves and their own actions. The refreshing part is that we get to see life as a mix of many humiliations and rare triumphs which, let's be honest, it's in fact pretty accurate even if hard to admit. This is a totally new kind of escapism we have here!

One of the more relatable of Hannah's quotes - girls often feel that,
they just don't say it that clearly!:)))

The  thing that this show really points out is the fact that these girls are, visually speaking, real persons and not the 1%. It really is a new approach when, in this industry obsessed with perfection and full of anorexic, Barbie type girls, a woman that doesn’t have a perfect body, shows it all without shame.

Lena Dunham puts her body, quite deliberately, in the spotlight. She is not shy about filming herself nude, in weird and unflattering positions. And even though these scenes shouldn’t shock, they do, and not because it’s the first movie where naked women are heavily featured, it’s because we live in a world were it’s acceptable only for women with perfect bodies to expose themselves like that.

I feel the same - I relay do think I may be the voice of my generation!:)))

Most of the show is inspired by Dunham's real-life experiences, like the fact that she was cut off financially by her parents, her struggle to become a writer and the whole making bad decisions process. S
Girls does have a lot of merit to it. Except the parts were they go overboard with the whole trying to figure out life, with good intentions but bad outcomes, it’s actually very relatable. I can definitely see myself better in this flawed anti-heroines than I ever could in all the too good to be true characters before. Also it’s easier to relate to some of this stories compared with many of the stories I’ve been seeing about what it means to be a young woman in today's world.

Lena looks nothing like the lead characters on TV and she is inspiringly unconcerned about showing her non perfect body for everyone to see. We get to see women that look less than glamorous most of the time, just like real human do. I also like the fact that the characters are flawed and even unlikable, because let’s face it, that’s how we are, we can’t be one dimensional, good or bad, all the time.

Some light breakfast small talk!

Just as a fun fact, Dunham not only gained world wide popularity and a Golden Globe for Best Comedy or Musical in 2013 for Girls, but she also received a $3.6 million book deal. That’s not half bad, right?

When it comes to the fashion I’m sure that, while watching Girls, you are constantly thinking: "What  the f*** is Hannah wearing? And why would someone ever wear that?" Well, it’s not as bad as you may think because that’s the whole idea:her clothes are meant to be unflattering. Apparently it’s important for Dunham for the awkward look to exist:"Yeah. We will do a thing sometimes where we'll, like, all fit clothes with Spanx so that they're kinda, like, fit right. And then I'll remove the Spanx so they're kinda like rumpled up. Yeah, I think it's important. I think it's a part of who she is."

The show's unique looks are achieved by shopping at vintage boutiques in New York, including Brooklyn Flea and even Geminolawho is owned by the mother of Jemima Kirke.

Just so you know, Girls is the kind of show that is highly addictive (don’t say I didn’t warn you!), you will either think: “How can a good TV show feel so bad?” or “How can a bad TV show feel so good?” The end result is you are going to be watching, with or against your better judgment. Girls it’s the kind of show that gets a reaction out of you – you’ll be anything but bored.

Towards the end, season 2 was getting a bit darker, but I just loved the romantic and hopeful end of the season and I’m looking forward to things getting happier in season 3! And according to these two trailers, released before Girl's season 3 premiere, things will get back to their hilarious, messy, neurotic self, just like we like them:

Who else is watching Girls? Do you like it? Why is that? Do you find it relatable?

How to wear a full skirt

Here you have a little something I had on just before the New Year for a weekend day out with my girlfriends. Funny enough, this is actually a going back to basics outfit for me – the kind of get up that I love the most, wear quite a lot and that’s representative for my style.

And it’s all about the skirt and flattering silhouettes. I could have as well named it: How to trick people into thinking you’re much thinner than you actually are? And after all the great food I ate on Christmas, I needed all the help I could get.

This emerald skirt it’s amazing – I love the length (a perfect midi) and the fullness of it it’s pure poetry (an it’s all in the fabric an pleats, it doesn’t have a petticoat so it’s super light). I’m going to get it in other colors too since it was quite affordable.

The trick with a great full skirt is being the perfect size on your middle – if so it will make you look like you have a super small waist. Another thing with midi, voluminous skirts, is to wear them with heels – the shorter you are, the higher the shoes you put on should be – this way your legs will look long and svelte.

I wore mine with a fitted shirt (a reasonable tight top will balance the bottom part wonderfully) and a ladylike necklace with an emerald stone. As you can see, I was on an emerald streak since I even changed the brooch that holds my fur collar together with one that had a green stone included.

And since we are here, let me give you one more piece of unsolicited advice: put a fur on it! Everything looks better with a bit of fur and red lips. It doesn’t really matter what you’re wearing, it’s going to look classier with a fur number thrown on top.

Just to revise what we have learned today on how to wear a full skirt like there’s nobody’s business:
  • Pair voluminous skirts with fitted tops
  • Wear high heel - the shorter you are, the higher they should be
  • The waist band of a full skirt should have a perfect fit on your waistline
  • Use a special piece of jewelry to finish up the look: a statement necklace, big earrings
  • Don’t forget the accessories: long gloves, a fur collar, a nice bag
 I’m wearing:
ankle boots / botine - BB Up
emerald skirt / fusta - green, red, pink, purple, neon
long gloves / manusi lungi - random brand
shirt / camasa - Topshop (old)
fur collar, brooch/ guler blana, brosa - vintage
necklace / colier - choies (here)
  tassel bag /geanta - Debenhams
leather jacket / geaca piele  - H&M

Yellow trench with over the knee boots

Firstly, I want to give a shout-out to the lovely reader I meet at Paul the day I wore this outfit (I’m sorry I didn’t get your name). Thank you so much for approaching me and saying hello – you made my day!

Secondly, let’s take a minute and talk about my yellow trench! One of my favorite things in the world is a good trench. I have lots of them but they are either navy, black or beige so I was super excited when I got this one in bright yellow. It can almost be worn as a dress because it has this beautiful lace overlay and a matching belt. It’s also shorter than my usual winter or fall coats! Scored!!!

I went a bit crazy with color and taught I might as well pull a Pretty Woman (again) on everybody with the over the knee velvet boots. Unfortunately the boots are a total nightmare because they keep on sliding down so I can’t wear them too long without losing my mind and patience (there’s already too little of those :)))).

Other than that I’m having a bow in my hair fixation that I might be a bit too old for right now, but what the heel, it looks cute so it’s happening!

  I’m wearing:
over the knee boots / cizme peste genunchi - random brand
yellow lace trench / trench galben - 6ks (here)
  bag/ geanta - Debenhams
  dress / rochie - here
rings, earrings / inele, cercei - here and here
dotted tights / ciorapi - New Look
hair bow /funda par - made it myself

Alex and Sierra

I wanted to write something about Alex&Sierra for quite a while now. They were the main reason I watched this season of X Factor USA (them, Lily Mccloud and Carlitos Olivero that is) and I was supper happy my favorites actually won for a change. I thought Alex and Sierra were absolutely adorable and very talented starting with the very first audition and rutted for them ever since.

The fact that I find them cute is not a small thing either, as I’m not into mushy love stories or feelings for that matter. :))) I’m a total freak that way! My sister has to chase me all over the house for a hug and the words “let’s talk about our feelings” give me the chills.

That being said, I can’t deny Alex and Sierra are incredibly talented, have an amazing stage presence and chemistry. Not to mention they are both attractive and major goofballs. These two have known each other since high school and even though “they kind of dated then”, as Sierra puts it, it was nothing serious. They are together for two years now and they seem happy and very much in love.

Just look at this – you just can’t fake affection like that! Alex&Sierra’s rendition of Toxic by Britney Spears it’s too awesome for words!

Sierra is not only mesmerizingly beautiful, but she is also a brainiac, she was an A+ student, received lots of honors, was top of her class, she plays the piano and took dance classes since she was 2. Pretty amazing, huh? Alex seems to have been relying  more on his looks and charisma though, considering that after 5 years of Spanish he only knows one sentence in Spanish (Sierra did all of his Spanish homework in college).

They also auditioned for American Idol and while Sierra didn’t get a yes from the judges, Alex made it through to Hollywoodweek. I can’t believe that someone heard them and didn’t think they were good enough. I bet you feel pretty silly right now, American Idol?!:))))

Apparently they were the viewers favorites since the beginning  - Simon Cowell revealed in an interview following the finale,  that Alex and Sierra were first in the voting every single week of the competition.

People called them the new Sony and Cher, but in my opinion they are something unique that can’t be compared with anything else, they seem genuine and fresh and I hope they will last and make it in the cutthroat music industry.

They do well in the fashion department as well: Sienna is a bombshell, she can pull off an evening dress like no other and can rock a boohoo outfit quite effortlessly. Her hair is the stuff of fairytale - long, wavy, shiny, perfect – major hair envy alert! Alex on the other hand has the hipster nerd look all figured out and he can wear a hat better than most.

They are now working on releasing they debut album, after they revealed on Instagram that they were signed to Columbia Records. Can’t wait to put my hands on that baby!

Meanwhile you can listen to the original covers they performed during the show, some of them were better than the original songs. Their rendition of Say something” by A Great Big World– it’s so beautifully hunting – no wonder it became number 1 on iTunes, making Alex&Sierra the first X Factor contestants to achieve that.

Photos and gifs: 1, 2.

I really hope that fame and success won’t change them much because they are just perfect the way they are now!

Have you heard of them? Any thoughts on the subject?
