Event: Band of Creators in Wonderland

One of the perks of being a fashion blogger is the chance to attend cool events and exclusive runway shows. Sure, many of them will prove disappointing, but that wasn’t the case for the one I went to the last day of March. Band of Creatorsin Wonderland got me excited from the second I got the invitation! It almost seemed like something that could have been thrown in my honor, so I had to go!

The Alice in Wonderland decor was super fun and whimsical and created a story for the runway show of 10 up and coming Romanian designers that got to reveal their spring-summer collections.

My outfit had a Red Queen vibe with my new red dress worn under a tuxedo shaped trench. The head accessory featuring a blue bird is handmade by me and the shoes are new so I couldn’t wait to wear them for one more minute.

Unde am fost in ultima zi din martie? In Tara Minunilor, unde altundeva?

Dear Romania - Zara goes online in Romania

After 10 years of presence on the Romanian market, Zara has finally opened an online store as well. I was lucky enough to be able to place an order before the official opening date as part of the #dear_Romania campaign and I’m very happy with my new, blue pastel, leather jacket. I plan to wear it a lot this spring.

In fact I’m super tempted by all the dreamy pastels out there and I had a hard time deciding between the jacket and a few pairs of pink shoes that were calling my name too. I’m pretty sure that I will eventually cave and get those too! I’m very weak when it comes to shoes.

- standard (19 lei): 3-5 zile lucratoare,
- expres (49 lei): 2-3 zile lucratoare.

Are you guys Zara fans? Which is your favorite high street store?

Decor ideas – white furniture

When you think about it, we all spend a lot of our lives in our houses. That’s why my future apartment has to be a place to call my own - a creative environment for my dreams, a refuge from the world. It used to be a far away project, but it’s in my reach now so I’m actually experiencing a pre-decorating frenzy in anticipation of the moment.

The thing I really like right now is white furniture. It did occur to me it’s quite unpractical for couches and armchairs – they would probably get dirty very fast and changing the upholstery from time to time seems like a costly nightmare. Other than the practical reasoning, I’m in love with the idea of a white room with colorful details all over. Wren Living does some wonderful white and ivory wardrobes with a retro vibe that would solve my many storage problems and look amazing in the process. And to top it of, they can custom make all the furniture to fit your space perfectly.

I can’t stop day dreaming about an all ivory walk in closet with tones of cupboards and cabinets for all my clothes, shoes and jewelry. Just imagine how beautiful the white would look with all the colorful clothes inside carefully organized according to season and shade! Yes, I’m a bit of a nutcase when it comes to sorting and depositing my things, I love to do it – it’s my own kind of porn.

Choosing white furniture leaves you a lot of room (pun intended) to play with the smaller decorative elements that give personality to a space: curtains, pillows, lamps, rugs, blankets, sheets, art objects. Versatility is important since I get bored easily. That's why a base that's easy to change up by adding small elements to the original furniture is something I'm already thinking about.

The statement necklace

Among other things that make me happy (ice cream, shoes, chocolate, sleeping late, flowers), statement necklace are probably at the top of my feel good list.

This one in particular is my new favorite – I love it so much, I sometimes just open the box it came in and stare at it for a few minutes in a trance type state while murmuring crazily fondly: my precious, my precious!!! It’s from an online store - Borealy - here in Romania and it came in the most glamorous box – I spent half an hour just unpacking it because I didn’t want to destroy the carefully staged packaging. I love these small details.

I have worn it constantly for the last two weeks and this is one of the get ups it was featured in. Looks really great on top of half knitted, half leather top. Well, it’s actually a dress for those of you who are more gracefully built, but not me. It also picked up the royal blue in my bag (the big one from the duo I was telling you about here).

The silver shoes with glittery cut-outs at the back are also new despite looking quite retro which is why I chose them in the first place.

Spring fairy wannabe

This ivory dress makes me want to believe in fairytales again – the delicate lace bottom combined with the see through, crochet top it’s just dreamy. And, for once, I actually found the perfect place to serve as the backdrop for this get up of mine: an alley full of white, blossoming trees! The light was crappy, but nothing is perfect in this world so I got over it...eventually!:)

The leather jacket it’s my go to piece for a super girly dress - it provides some sort of a contrast that I feel it’s needed. I wanted a pair of barely there sandals for quite some time and I finally got my hands on this nude pair with a twist – the golden metallic straps around the ankle. You should have seen the grin on my face when I saw they were on sale and in my size!!!

The yellow bird headband is something I made myself (you can find it in my Etsy store). Now that I’m so busy and grown up, I really miss having the time to create accessories and other little things for myself. I wish I could go back a few years and tell myself to use all that free time more wisely. Actually, I wish I could go back two weeks ago and tell myself to step away from all the food and stop using Easter as a valid reason to eat my weight in cupcakes and ice-cream!:)))) Who am I kidding? I would have done it anyway!

Si pentru ca tot am ajuns aici, categoriile anuntate anul acesta sunt: Best Women Websites, Best Bloggers for Social Causes, Best Use of Photography in Blogging (Fashion & Beauty blogs), Best Instagram Account, Best Newcomer Fashion Blog, Best Newcomer Beauty Blog, Best Fashion Blog, Best Beauty Blog, The Digital Diva of The Year, Special Projects, People’s Choice Award.

Eye candy – literally

It’s that time of year again! You know, the glorious months when you can wear sunglasses without looking like a douchebag. In fact, with summer just a short month away, sunglasses will be actually necessary and not just a stylistic choice.

I’m one of those people who like and wear sunglasses a lot. Aviator, cat eye, wayfarer shaped, clear lenses, colorful lenses, simple or intricately ornate frames – I like them all. You’ve seen me wearing them in enough outfit of the day posts over the years to believe I’m not just saying that. I have serious proof to back it up and you can see a short selection below. I dream of having a huge collection and I’m always on the lookout for a new pair despite having quite a few already.

I’ve always seen sunglasses like an easy way to complete a look and give it that cool, effortless edge. I won’t deny wearing a pair of sunglasses can also help with looking insistently at people without scaring them off. Behind the right, opaque lenses you can be plenty creepy without actually putting the fear of God into the object of your intense gaze. :))))

There was a time when it was actually very hard to find sunglasses I really liked. I had friends who actually needed glasses and hated wearing them because they looked so awful. Then I discovered online shopping and I suddenly had endless possibilities at my fingertips. In fact finding the coolest and most affordable sunglasses and eyeglasses online has become a bit of a favorite pastime of mine. Thankfully I don't need eyeglasses, but I will admit I have worn this style before just for fun and without the prescription lenses. Looking like a sexy nerd all the time has its appeal.

Right now I have my eyes on (pun intended) a few pairs from BonLook. They carry sunglasses too, but what I'm really into is the amazing selection of eyeglasses with the most wonderful, colorful and stylish frames.

I actually need your help to decide between a "few" pairs I love since I find it almost impossible to narrow it down to an acceptable number. Which  are the one that you like best?
I need me some sexy librarian cat eye frames! How about you?

Is this business enough?

I don’t really do business outfits – at least not in the traditional sense of the word. But I do love a great pencil skirt. The floral number I have one is possibly the best one in my closet right now – it’s high waisted, elastic, colorful and goes with everything. I have to stop myself and not wear it every single day.

And I even paired it with a shirt! But this is not the generic, white shirt that you’d usually expect in an office look. Nope – it’s the loveliest shade of see-through, baby blue with black lace details on top. I’m not even sure this get up qualifies as business attire for most, but it surely goes in that direction as far as I’m concerned. :)

Maternity style – a few thoughts

$

As a very tall girl I have always struggled finding certain articles of clothing to fit properly: maxi dresses and maxi skirts are never long enough, pants and jeans are always shorter than I’d like,  miniskirts are too short for me, sleeves rarely go to my wrist and the list can go on and on.

High street and even designer stores generally fail to cater to the needs of niche silhouettes and heights and prefer going the safe route with the standard sizes and shapes that are going to sell and appeal to most. And even those which have tall, petite or curvy sections, don’t pay enough attention to them, so they end up being a disappointment as far as variety and design goes, especially compared with the clothes you can find in the “normal” section.

Based on some of  my friends’ experience and what I’m constantly hearing from readers, the situation is quite similar when it comes to maternity clothes. Pregnant women have a hard time finding stylish clothes specially designed for this wonderful, but equally difficult period of time in their life. They usually have to get creative and buy clothes a few sizes bigger or just give up and pretty much avoid going out during the last months of pregnancy. The few stores which do sell maternity clothes are often not what they are looking for - having an outdated and unflattering selection of clothes that’s just plain depressing.

Thankfully, there’s always online shopping and the magic of internet with its myriad possibilities. That’s how I discovered Isabella Oliver– which is probably the best maternity brand I’ve come across so far. The way I knew they were great was when I realized I had spent over an hour  browsing  through their shop and was actually considering ordering something and I’m not even pregnant, nor do I  have plans to get pregnant in the near future. But that’s the cool thing about Isabella Oliver– the clothes are designed so that you can wear them during and after pregnancy justifying the higher price tag. That, the cut and the quality of the fabrics they use make the clothes a pretty good investment.

I made quite a few collages using my favorite looks from their site to serve as visual aid and get you inspired and excited about the various ways you can dress if you happen to be pregnant or generally going in that direction!:)

I'd love to hear from those of you who know more about maternity style first hand! Don't hesitate to share your tips and favorite shopping destinations with all of us!

How to get instantly long hair

$

This article is a lesson in “never say never”. Let’s start with the obvious – I have super long hair in these photos and we all know my normal hair is pretty short.

Well guys, it’s not magic – it’s just hair extensions! And really great hair extensions if I can say so myself. And to think I have always dismissed them before – I knew hair extensions existed but was never really all that interested. Just like Jon Snow– I didn’t know anything.:)))

Instead, I was blaming my damn genes for not being able to provide Blake Lively or Selena Gomez type hair. I now realize I was delusional – there’s no way in hell that’s their natural hair. Now that my eyes have been opened, I could bet my life all those celebrities with heavenly hair wear extensions all the time. And my genes are perfectly fine, thank you very much!

And since I got the rant out of the way, let me tell you a few things about all this hair on my head.:))) The extensions are Irresistible Me in Silky Medium Brown (#4), they are 20 inches long and the weight is 200 grams. They arrived very fast for an overseas order (the processing stage is 3 to 5 business days and the shipping another 2-4 days). They ship worldwide and the shipping is free for orders over $150 (otherwise you’ll have to pay $10 that are well-worthed since they use FedEx and the extensions will be delivered to your door).

They are clip-ins and perfect for someone like me who doesn’t wear extensions on daily basis and just wants to put them on occasions. They have these little, sturdy clips that can be added in your hair in a matter of minutes (they are equally as easy to take off). They come in 10 wefts of different sizes (1 piece of 4 clips (8"/20cm), 2 pieces of 3 clips (6"/15cm), 5 pieces of 2 clips (4"/10cm) and 2 pieces of 1 clip (1.5cm) and there’s so much hair you can actually leave a few pieces out and only use part of them. The big weft is epic and has so much hair it can be used by itself and it’s going to look great.

This is me before adding the hair extensions and thinking about how good I was going to look! :)

The best part is the hair itself – super soft, shiny and silky - so much so I have this crazy compulsion of touching it constantly. Fortunately, the shedding is minimal so that’s a problem just reported to my mental health. Being 100% human Remy hair, the Irresistible Me hair extensions can be cut, colored and styled without any problem as long as you take the same precautions you would with your own hair. Right here, I curled them because I wanted them to blend in perfectly. The ultimate goal was to trick everybody and make them believe I have breathtaking hair all on my own. And I think I did! The day I wore them everybody was looking at me with envy and/or lust!:)))))) I’m telling you, these are better than a boob job…a lot cheaper too (or so I heard:)))

All the hair inspired me to wear this insane ruffled maxi skirt with a salsa vibe. I might have tried a few dance poses as well, but I decided to only share those via Facebook where people are expected to be crazy and ridiculous. I couldn’t help myself and I threw on my Borealy necklace as well – it’s so pretty, it seemed like the necessary topping on the cake (and by cake I mean myself :)).

Since I know an unsettling amount of things about extension from my sister, I feel it’s my patriotic duty to make an even more detailed review about my Irresistible Me hair extensions (I have a second blonde set that I wear as highlights or instant ombre depending on the mood) and show you how to put them in! Willing or not, you will be educated!:):):):)

If you like the hair extensions and want a set for yourself, I have a a permanent 10% off coupon code for you for anything you like on Irresistible Me, just use IrresistibleAlice at checkout by adding it in the Promo Code box.

Nu-i o minune – sunt doar extensii!!!

The before and after pictures from behind (well, that sounds a bit dirty but you get the gist!)

So what do you think? How do you like me best - with shorter or longer hair?

The little black dress

We’re all chasing and working for the future so desperately, we sometimes forget to enjoy the little, perfect instants in our present. I know I do! Fortunately I have my glimpses of clarity when I look upon moments and things and see their true worth and beauty.

This past Saturday was one of those days. I just got dressed up for no particular reason and went out! I wore this amazing black dress and just let myself feel good because beautiful clothes excite me!

And right now I’m all about this little black dress with a twist – I adore the unusual asymmetric cut and the sultry layering that lets me show off my legs without looking trashy. Even better – the dress is made here in Romania in a little workshop called Miss Grey. They create wonderful, tailored clothes with a very feminine touch. The little number I have on fits me like a glove - so much so, I didn’t even feel the need to wear it with the cute gold belt it come with.

My obsession for the Irresistible Me hair extensions I ranted about in my previous article is still going strong. This time I attempted an ombre effect meets “in your face” highlights and I actually love the result. These extensions have actually revived my passion for experimenting with different hairdos and hair styles – I finally have enough hair to attempt some of the amazing things I collected on my Pinterest boards.

Am atat de multe to do-uri pe lista, incat imi este din ce in ce mai greu sa ma bucur de lucrurile simple.

Imi dau seama ca aproape toti alergam cu disperare dupa viitor care in mintea noasta este mereu mai bun decat prezentul pentru ca-i imaginat din toate visele si sperantele noastre.

Imi place rochia asta neagra ca-i simpla si complicata exact ca mine si, in plus, imi vine ca turnata. Ideea cu straturile transparente - foarte in trend acum -  iar imi place pentru ca-i sexy, fara sa fie vulgara.

Dupa cum vedeti obsesia cu extensiile Irresistible Me continua.

Summer has this way of making everything feel better – it’s like vacation mood it’s on even if you’re still at work and following your usual routine. For me it comes with that feeling of endless possibilities and the overwhelming need to wear colors.

And I’m not just saying that, I’m going straight for neon green – my dress can probably be seen from space (which was my evil plan all along).

And I topped it with the most amazing statement necklace ever – my new love from Borealy. The blue one I showed you here and here, finally has some serious competition for my heart.

In ceea ce ma priveste l-a detronat pe cel albastru (purtat aici si aici) in inima mea.

How amazing is the red Pashley Britania bike in these photos? Unfortunately, it’s not mine, but I did have the pleasure to borrow it for an afternoon and take some photos. I could even wear one of my usual get ups - the low frame and large front wicker basket are designed to give you the freedom to wear skirts and dresses and carry your usual bag and everything else you feel like having with you. A polka-dots dress seemed like the obvious choice for my red bicycle!

I’m also taking this opportunity to talk about a lovely event here in Bucharest called SkirtBike which aims to celebrate the independence and empowerment that cycling can provide to all women and to encourage those who don’t already cycle. SkirtBike is a fun, colorful and friendly women bicycle ride, where the skirt or the dress is the proper outfit (the next one is coming really soon – on July 6th).

Urmatorea editie Skirt Bike va avea loc in cateva zile, pe 6 iulie, in București începând cu ora 15.00.

This is a post about an event organized yearly here in Bucharest that celebrates the beauty and fashion blogosphere called Digital Divas. Since I don’t imagine many of my abroad readres were going to be interested in me detailing it, I wrote it in Romanian.

The red dress I was wearing that day is on of my favorite bodycon dresses. I’m a bit fixed on red lately because I think it goes well with my gosthly complexion!:)))) Do you agree or not so much?

In concluzie, m-am distrat mult mai bine anul trecut decât anul acesta. This year is not that year though!

The green maxi dress

I rarely feel overdressed – when you’re a part time fashion blogger these lines get blurred and you start believing this is how everybody feels about clothes. You do have rare moments of lucidity, but they are short lived and far apart!:))))

So if you happened to see me in the subway last Sunday dressed in this maxi dress and wondered where I was going, well, there was no wedding or prom involved – I was just meeting someone and thought I should break my new Miss Grey dress and take some pictures too (cause that’s what I do). I told you I was excited to try it on a few articles ago so here I am. I wish it was just a few centimeters longer, but, hey, you can’t have it all.

I also tried something new with my hair – a super silk, long ponytail that felt strange but looked good with the outfit. Sara said the only reason it didn’t felt like myself was because I’m not a 70’s model (I am in my head so the joke’s on her).:))))

Looking back, it was a bit much, even for me, but there are so many dresses to wear and not enough time to do it! The dress is obviously great for a summer wedding with the lace detail at the front and the choice of fabric and it will eventually be used for one of those!:))) In the meantime, I’m happy to entertain the good people of Bucharest who ride the subway or just innocently stroll in downtown Bucharest.

Pharrell Williams – a true renaissance man

Pharrell is 41! Yes, I typed that right and you read it correctly, he is in his early 40 and was born in 1975, on April 5th)!!! Can you believe this guy? How dare he look so good and make me think he is almost a decade younger? It’s shameful really! He obviously made a pact with the Devil to never get old!

That and  the fact he is amazing at everything he does: he sings, writes songs, he is a drummer, rapper, fashion designer, record producer and philanthropist. There's really no other logical explanation for all this Pharrell magic!

He has his hands in everything. Pharrell and childhood friend, Chad Hugo, represent The Neptunes record production team. He is also the vocalist and drummer of the hip hop and R&B band N.E.R.D (Nobody Ever Really Dies) with whom he released four albums. Chad Hugo and Shay Haley are the other members of N.E.R.D. In 2003 they were responsible for 20 percent of songs played in the U.K and 43 percent of those played in the U.S. Crazy right?

Before The Neptunes, he was in a band called Surrounded by Idiots with Chad and fellow Virginia Beach native, now renowned producer Timbaland.

In 2005 he co funded The Billionaire Boys Club (amazing name!), Billionaire Girls Club clothing labels and the Ice Cream Footwear and T-shirt brand. His designs are sold in his own boutique in New York City. He designed for other companies like Topshop, Gap, Timberland, etc.

He is also a partner in Bionic Yarn, a textile firm from New York that develops environmentally friendly fabrics using recycled plastic bottles.

He owns a media venture that includes elements of entertainment, music, fashion and art called i am OTHER and in 2011 he launched his own You Tube channel ) as part of YouTube's $100 million original channel initiative. On his i am OTHER dedicated website he says: "I serve and represent the OTHERS because I am one myself". The "others" are anyone who has ever felt different, noncompliant, hard to define and un-categorized.
He has his own record label named Star Trak. Can you tell he is a fan of Star Trek? If the name of his label doesn’t convince you, maybe the fact the he often uses the Vulcan salute will!

In 2008 he co-designed some jewelry and glasses for Louis Vuitton and worked on furniture with Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin and Domeau & Pérès.

But it all started with The Neptunes and the numerous hit songs that they created for various artists. He met Hugo in seventh grade on a summer band camp. I guess it was bromance at first sight: back then Pharrell played the keyboards and drums, while Hugo played saxophone and they were both members in marching bands. It was truly a pair made in geek heaven!

They were snatched by producer/songwriter Teddy Riley after they entered a high school talent show that was held near Riley’s recording studio and after graduating from high school they were signed by Riley.
You can blame The Neptunes for songs like Britney Spears'"I'm a Slave 4 U" (after becoming a world-wide number one hit this song catapulted the group into the limelight), Nelly's "Hot in Here", Babyface’s "There She Goes, "Madonna`s "Hey You", Beyonce's version of "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" and Kelis first album - Kaleidoscope. He also worked on Justin Timberlake's hit album Justified and this are just a few of the many artists he collaborated with.

And who can forget the feature that Pharrell made on Daft Punk's fourth album on songs like "Get Lucky" and "Lose Yourself to Dance". Let’s not forget about Pharrell’s collaboration with T.I. and Robin Thicke for the hit "Blurred Lines". “Both songs are for people who need a break. There's a lot of fucked-up travesty in the world. Sometimes you just need a Hallmark card. Sometimes you just need to shake your ass.” he confesses about writing these songs! This year has definitely been his year and the number one position that "Blurred Lines" held for weeks was only endangered by his other song "Get Lucky".

He is obviously one of the greatest artists and writers of this generation. He can deliver a song for every mood possible: from catchy songs, meaningful ones to dance all night kind of tunes. In his vision: “Music has been the skeleton key that's opened every door of every opportunity that I've had”. And along the way he ensured 17 top 10 hits, a No. 1 album and seven Grammy Awards.

He is also a philanthropist who built a $35 million after school center in his hometown, Virginia Beach. He also has a charity foundation called From One Hand To Another that helps youngsters between the ages of 7 and 20 from at risk communities.

As for his personal life, I’m sorry to report, girls, but this cutie pie is taken. He married his long-time girlfriend, model and designer Helen Lasichanh in 2013. They have a son together, Rocket Man Williams (the "Rocket's Theme" songs for Despicable Me were written in honor of his son). This guy has a thing for amazing names, doesn’t he? He is very private about his wife and child, even though he sometimes gushes about his son calling him his "greatest co-production".

Pharrell was voted the "Best Dressed Man in the World" in 2005 by Esquire. His sense of style is exquisite! I can honestly say that I have never seen a man who can pull off so well basically everything.
His unique outfits make him one of the most stylish men on the planet. He is so comfortable in his own skin and everything he wears and does exude that confidence: he got married in a tartan tux (while his wife to be wore a matching navy wedding dress), for God sakes!

And jewelry never looked so good on a boy! He loves accessories a lot - he always accessorizes his outfits with long necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings or all of the above. He is particularly in love with a set of necklaces, you can see he is wearing them every chance he gets: the Chanel rosario type necklaces with green and white beads on a gold chain, they are indeed very pretty and work with almost everything.

He owns some fierce hats as you might have noticed: from bowler hats, to caps or even ranger hats, he wears them all! I mean who can’t forget the odd hat that he had on at the 56th Grammy Awards? After that countless GIFs, Twitter accounts and memes were made just because of that hat. Pharrell is possibly the only one that could pull of that hat, and by all accounts he did!

At 41 he still looks like teenage ready to skate his way true Time Square. I guess that being a skateboarder himself and having a professional skateboarder as a brother (Cato Williams), as well as the fact that he built a half-pipe inside his home, is a true statement to why he loves this style.

His fashion choices are complex and fresh, he is not afraid to mix different styles and take dangerous risks that always seem to pay off. He is at his best when he wears his slick costumes paired with amazing accessories - a true style icon with an effortless and refined look. Pharrell knows how to shine in anything: from three piece costumes to a pair of shorts with socks.

Jewelry, crazy colors and prints, leather jackets, fur, funky hats and cool shoes and sunglasses, everything is allowed. You know that he is genuinely into fashion and that this side of his personality didn’t just come out as he got famous and got access to basically everything he wanted because he was sporting unique outfits, experimenting with different styles and pushing fashion boundaries since he first came into the game.
He has fine tastes not only in clothes but also in cars: he drives a Ferrari Enzo and a Mercedes SLR McLaren. Pretty cool, right?

As hard as I tried, the only juicy news I could find about Pharrell was that he and Will.i.am from The Black Eyed Peas were involved in a legal dispute over the phrase "I am other".

While Pharrell tried to trademark the name of his company I Am Other,  Will.i.am responded by suing him because he thought that people would confuse Pharrell`s company with his own I.Am.Symbolic.

Some nasty things were said, more from Will.i.am`s side who’s claiming that Pharrell has a history of not respecting intellectual property (bullshit if you ask me). As it happens, at the time of the trial, he was involved in another intellectual property lawsuits, namely the one he and Robin Thicke's had to face against the estate of Marvin Gaye be ( 'Blurred Lines' was called out for being too similar to Gaye’s “Got to Give It Up”). Will.i.am threw another low punch by referring to the name of Pharrell`s record label, Star Trak Entertainment for his obvious origins.

It seems though that they agreed to settle the battle. Pharrell later said this about the conflict: "I am someone who likes to talk things out and, in fact, I attempted to do just that on many occasions", and called the lawsuit ridiculous.

Great news for The Voice fans out there: it seems like Pharrell is set to take over a judge’s chair the next season! He will be joining Adam Levine and Blake Shelton and replacing Usher on the show (also Gwen Stefani will replace Shakira). I can’t wait to see him on The Voice. He is such a nice person and so talented - he is going to be a great addition to the show.

Adam Levine sure seems excited to work alongside Pharrell, already saying that he can’t wait for Pharrell to join him ("He's so lovely - an unbelievable talent actually"), and has also warned him to "get ready for the rollercoaster".

In 2014 Pharrell was named one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People. He was one of only three musicians who got included in the list, Beyoncé and Miley Cyrus being the other two.

Who can ever forget his recent and extremely emotional interview with Oprah, when he was brought to tears after seeing video montages that fans of his Happy single made. He started to cry happy tears the moment he saw the home made clips, he was very touched seeing how many people were affected by his song. How can you not love that? He had to say this about his “breakdown”: "Why am I crying on Oprah … It's overwhelming because I love what I do and I just appreciate the fact that people have believed in me for so long that I could make it to this point - to feel that."

It’s hard to believe that this song wasn’t an instant success. When the song was first released on the soundtrack for Despicable Me 2 in June 2013 people didn’t react to it in the same way they reacted when the track was released out as a single in November.

Pharrell himself admitted he has been overwhelmed by its success:”Zero airplay, nothing. And the next thing you know, we put out the video on November 21st. All of a sudden, boom! I mean, when I say 'boom', [I mean]…'boom'. And we were like, what's happening? Ok, first of all people are putting up their own videos. It was like, no longer my song."

And did you know that Happy was originally recorded by CeeLo? Unfortunately for CeeLo, his version was never released because it was voted out by his team. In Pharrell’s opinion CeeLoo`s version was even better than his: “He sounded amazing on it. I mean, he burns my version! But the... how do I say this diplomatically?... The powers that be, at the time, did not see it fit for him. Some folks on his team just felt that the priority should be on [Cee Lo's] album at the time ['Magic Moment' in 2012], so they elected not to do that song."

In other news Pharrell recently asked fans from all around the world to help him finish his new book called Inspiration. There is no word yet regarding the release date, but the book will be made available after fans have helped him fill in the gaps. The fans who help him will receive a credit in the final book once it is published. Some of the earnings from the sale of the book will go towards From One Hand to AnOTHER, Pharrell’s nonprofit charity founded to help at-risk youths in American communities.

Almost every artist that worked with him has only good words to say. Pharrell seems like a true charmer and a genuine nice person. You can even go as far as to say that he is the person that everyone wants to work with. He has made a name for himself in music, art and fashion and I’m sure he will continue to entertain with his many projects!

Has anybody make it till the end of this article? How do you feel about Pharrell?

I always fancied myself a taller, poor-man version of Audrey Hepburn!!! Why else would I dress like this? I’m just following my calling!

But I bet Audrey didn’t have to deal with cute, black dresses with a see-through, polka dotted overlay being a bit too short for her! She of course had real problems! I on the other hand will always have to be scandalous against my will – I was sure this dress was going to be a good length for me, but here I am, barely legal!:))))

All things considered, I think it looks pretty cute and even decent - between the long, transparent sleeves and the ballerina flats I have on, it had too. I went with blue and gold jewelry and a small, colorful bag in an attempt to bring the whole get-up in a more playful, casual zone and be able to wear the dress during the daytime.

Pin up girls and pin up tattoos – a short history

While I’m too indecisive and afraid of commitment to actually get a serious tattoo, I’m still very much in love with the eccentricity and beauty of tattoos, which is way I prepared a new article in the series dedicated to them.

Body jewelry on the other hand have the temporary component on their side and are something I could  realistically consider which is way I sometime spend unjustified  amounts of time on sites like freshtrends. I'm pretty sure in a another live I was one of those wonderful, brave people covered in tattoos form head to toe - or that's what I tell myself to justify my long time obsession for these cool adornments.

Getting back to tattoos – today we’re covering the influence of the emblematic pin ups on this controversial form of art. It all started in the nineteenth century with the actresses and burlesque performers who used photos, posters and calendars to promote themselves.

With time the term pin-up was used to describe women who were so attractive and beautiful that you would want to pin their photo to your walls.

The pin up tattoos were extremely popular during the first and second world wars when soldiers used to get these types of tattoo before going to the battle fields. However the pin-up tattoos, considered part of the retro trend, have become popular with more than just soldiers and sailors.

Betty Grable is known as the original pin up girl and her iconic bathing suit poster (included in the “100 Photos that Changed the World” list made by Life magazine), transformed her from a movie star to the number one pin up girl.

She was known for having the most beautiful legs in Hollywood and the movie studios didn’t think twice to widely distribute posters and photos with her “million dollar legs” (and that was more than just a figure of speech as her studio insured her legs for 1 million dollars).

Even now, her famous pose in a swimsuit with her hands on her hips, looking back over her shoulder is used as a model for tattoo art.

But Betty Garbles fame was nothing compared with what Bettie Page achieved. Even today she is known (she was famous in the 1950s and 1980s), as the queen of all pin up girls. She was the first real life pin up model to be considered as good as the artwork (mainly drawings and paintings), made by artists back then. The artwork portrayed idealized versions of what was considered as particularly beautiful or attractive in a woman.

Pin up girl have a pretty long history when it comes to tattoos - they are part of the original Old School tattoo design. The Old School characteristics are still kept in the new designs but they are combined with New School style. While the designs are still iconic, the theme of pin-ups has evolved and still continue to do so.

There are different characteristics that can be used in a pin-up girl tattoo: you can choose an 1890’s pin up inspired girl or a modern version. In vintage pin-up tattoos the girls are exposed in sexy positions, wearing swim suits, hula girl costumes, navy uniforms, patriotic or sailor outfits, while today’s pin-up girl tattoos copy the old school design but they transform the style into a current one.

The modern day pin-up has become more scandalous, wearing outfits that leave little to the imagination or venturing into bizarre areas like zombie land. Pin up zombies have become quite popular; they still look like the old ones but have the characteristics of zombies: weird colors like green or red. Basically an Old School pinup tends to be somewhat like a cartoon while the New School tattoos are more realistic in style.

The tattoo design is usually based on vintage pin-up girl posters. The details have to be very accurate with full make-up, big eyelashes, red lipstick, smoky eyes and perfect hairstyles.

No matter what kind of pin up you go for in a tattoo: the original Bettie, the classic old sailor pin up girl with anchor, cartoon or photo, these tattoo designs are making a comeback and in a big way. It’s true that pin up tattoos never really got out of style, because let’s face it, beautiful girls and tattoos can never do that!

In fact the modern pin up girl is as popular now as it was in the 50`s and if you don’t believe that just look at the popularity of Dita Von Teese and other burlesque models.

There are so many options and variations on this theme that choosing the right tattoo can be really challenging. The placement it’s also essential, being one of the most important aspects of getting a tattoo.

As for the meaning of this tattoo it all depends on the person getting inked. It can be a symbol of femininity, old school ideals, female empowerment or just a picture of a beautiful woman.

Any of you  would ever consider a pin up tattoo? It's the pin up look something you're into or not so much?

Does dressing up make people look down on you?

Every time I sense fall creepin’ in, I get this feeling of renewed determination regarding my future plans mixed with the ridiculous panic that I didn’t wear half of my summer wardrobe. The story of my life – serious shit and superficial stuff always fighting for my attention!

But here’s what I learned – you can be a badass at your job and do everything you put your mind into and still love fashion and dressing up. Some people will label you as a mindless bimbo for it ‘cause you can’t possibly wear a pretty fluffy skirt, high heels and also have a mind of your own! I personally don’t care for that sort of jerks!

I like my costume jewelry and short dresses and I’ll be damned if I’ll ever give them up just to be taken seriously by narrow minded idiots. I don’t mind proving people wrong – at least that means they have it in them to eventually see past their preconceptions which gives me a bit of hope.

That being said, you’ll see me wear lots of cropped tops and summery skirts and dresses in the next couple of outfit posts – I just want to give all of them a go while I still can :)))).

And yes, I’m back to a constant posting schedule here! I told you fall does things to my heart and mind!

Let me know if you ever felt that liking fashion and clothes has made certain people look down on you and if you want me to talk more about this subject! :))

My ultimate fall wishlist

I love fall and if I’m being honest a big part of it has to do with the fall wardrobe that I’m always excited to dive in. It’s the perfect season to be creative: not too hot to wear light layers, not too cold to have to cover everything with a thick coat.

It’s that time of year when accessories can be worn for the pure pleasure of it and not just for comfort and warmth. You can still put on a lacy bra and leave it peek under a shirt that you top with a nice jacket. Fall with all its warmth and promise makes me want to buy lots of cool bags, classy hats, crazy patterned tights, funky gloves and colorful lingerie. I also feel like ditching all my heels for a while and just wearing sport inspired flats, espadrilles and fashionable sneakers with everything.

Seems like a good time to reinvent yourself starting with a little bit of a wardrobe revival!

For me it’s started as it always does - accidentally landing on a site that gives me lots of visual inspiration and items to add to my wish list. This time it was Simons and their lingerie section which brought me to the accessories page which then developed into actually making a few inspiration boards that I have to share. I’m do think I have a gift when it comes to making collages!

What do you think? Should I add “advanced skills in making collages” to my growing list of talents?
